AMURT Lebanon – Strengthening Social Stability: Earn & Learn

Earn & Learn

Refugee youths aged 15-25 participated in a 4 months course from September to October 2016 where they gained a unique opportunity to earn some money and take classes in various vocational, academic and creative subjects.

For the Earn part of the program, the participants learned the entire tree-planting process from seed to tree: nursery management, soil, and site preparation, planting and maintenance of seedlings. They then went on to prepare for and plant at least 100 trees each.

For the Learn part of the program, they studied topics including biology, English, ecology, health, yoga, home gardening & landscaping, an introduction to permaculture, and awareness sessions in gender-based violence, teen empowerment, and human rights.
