Anniversary of Gurukula and News Update

On Sept 7, 2018, we are commemorating 28 years of the founding of Ananda Marga Gurukula, an institution founded by Shrii Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar on Sept 7, 1990.

It is my pleasure to inform you all margiis, well-wishers, and workers that are supporting and collaborating to actualize the mission of Ananda Marga Gurukula. This educational platform is inclusive, universal and inspired by neohumanism in both letter and spirit.  Our mission is global and motivated by the founder’s wish: “to serve humanity with a neohumanist spirit and to acquire knowledge for that purpose”.

Anandanagar (Dist Purulia, West Bengal, India) is the headquarters of AMGK. There, the focus is on improving the neohumanist standard of our institutions and attempting to make them a showcase for alternative education. Improvements and upgrades are taking place for the Ananda Marga Gurukula Teachers Training College and the Ananda Marga Degree College. Rector and his dedicated staff are still active in the High School and 44 primary schools are being run under the guardianship of Rector Masters with the assistance of overseas sectors. The Farm department is active to preserve rare species of plants.  The Acupuncture Clinic and Hospital are still running well despite all limitations. A Naturopathy Center is being run serving the local people much in need of treatment. At Uma Nivas the building of a model Ananda Marga Primary School and Women’s College has been undertaken.

Several workers are busy with the Music College. Planning has begun for establishing the Shrii P R Sarkar Institute of Microvita Research under the leadership of Dr. Uttampati, former Dean of Bio-Technology of JN University (New Delhi) tentatively at Ajiitananda Dihi. Dr Uttampati is a margii since 1972 and passionate about Microvita research.

The consolidation of the NHE Movement in India has begun in collaboration with scores of well-qualified neohumanist teachers. A meeting was held in Kolkata and one in Bangalore to begin the process of curriculum review, publication of improved books, development of an upgraded standard of NHE in India and to compile a book of SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for all NH Schools.  Dada Shambhushivananda, Kulapati of AMGK, with cooperation from people all over the country, is supporting this initiative from the newly constructed NERI Center in Chandigarh, India.

A Neohumanist College is being built on a 33 acre campus donated by Ac. Vishvamitra (Sid Jordan, President of AMGK Inc.) with active participation of Ellen Landau (Shivapriya). This has been linked with the Singapore AM International Academy, already recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in Singapore.

An impressive five-story  “Gurukul Education Center” building is under construction in Taichung, Taiwan with the active support of Mohamukta (Shih Chi Lin), Vikasinii and Rudramohan (Rutger Tamminga).  It will be called P.R. Sarkar Institute and serve as the hub for the Asia-Pacific region and spearhead the NHE movement in collaboration with the Asia- Pacific Futures Network and other interested partners.  An exhibition space is also being prepared to highlight the messages of Neohumanism and contributions of Shrii P R Sarkar. Ananda Jyoti, north of Taipei is also being further developed as an NH/GK MU-retreat site on ten acres of mountain land.

The PRSI (P.R.Sarkar Institute) www.prsinstitute.org and Centennial Celebration Committee is working on preparing a documentary film, exhibits and a special book, on Shrii P R Sarkar, for the centennial year besides organizing other events. Please stay tuned for further developments.

The 47th issue of Gurukula Network, edited by Arete Brim (A’rati) is now under preparation. Electronic versions of all past issues can be viewed and downloaded at  https://gurukul.edu courtesy of Michele Montenegro (Ma’ya’dhiisha) of the Netherlands. The color edition of the newsletter/magazine reaches over 70 countries and links up the entire Neohumanist Education Global Network and serves as a source of inspiration to thousands of neohumanist volunteers around the world. This is made possible with the help of Ko Yun Chin  (Snehalata’) and her team and support of our donors around the world.

Please stay tuned for upcoming regional and global Gurukula/NHE conferences being organized in India, Taiwan and Italia to bring together all neohumanist educators for further learning, discussion, sharing and reflections. GANE-Global Association of Neohumanist Educators is now active in this regard.

The book “Permaculture for Children” has been published and have received a positive response from many quarters.  The authors also partnered with the Neohumanist Kindergarten and Lotus Center in the Netherlands to establish teachers training workshops on a regular basis under the auspices of NERI, Netherlands.

We are happy to acknowledge the contributions of scores of educators who have played an active part in the Gurukula/Neohumanist Education movement’s activities around the world for decades, with their schools and projects, academic contributions, research and publications, and administrative work, etc.  forming the foundation of the NHE network. It is not possible to name all of them but we value each one’s contribution for furthering the cause of Neohumanism on this earth Through their projects and different bodies like NHE-Forum, AMGK Inc. Board, GANE, Training Events and general support and academic advise, they continue to enliven the neohumanist movement and keep it relevant.   In addition we want to acknowledge all those who have been contributing to and supporting the efforts of AMGK and NHE with donations, with IT support, with publications support and in countless other ways.

We are also noticing the emergence of the younger generation to hasten our movement forward. We welcome each one of them also and look forward to their contributions and leadership. We are grateful to Sohail Inayatullah for further nurturing such persons through Futurists Networks.

We will bind everybody with the thread of love and create

a garland of incomparable beauty.

All will exist with kith and kin

with their minds full of sweetness and tenderness for all.
