Good News from New York: World Meditation Day at United Nations

World Meditation Day on December 21, 2025, was especially significant, as it marked the first time the United Nations officially recognized and observed Meditation Day as an annual event. The inaugural celebration at the UN brought together more than 400 participants from diverse backgrounds, and Avtk. Ananda Hitaprabha Ac. attended as a representative of Ananda Marga, along with Ac. Kovid Brahmacarii and Ac. Priyakrsna Brahmacarii. Various speakers from diverse spiritual and meditation traditions shared insights into the importance and science of meditation, highlighting it as a foundation stone for personal growth and a universal tool for the development of the higher mind and soul. To further emphasize the value of meditation, a follow-up celebration was held the same day at a Buddhist Zen temple in Manhattan, organized with the World Yoga Union, where around 20–30 key participants from various meditation organizations gathered in a spirit of unity and shared purpose. Continuing the season of togetherness, on December 25, a sisters’ satsang was held with six Margii sisters, including shared meditation, dinner, and a simple celebration of the New Year holidays, fostering warmth, connection, and collective inspiration.
