Our first Alberta Diocese Retreat from August 29-31 was attended by 8 people. It was held at the Hidden Resort Retreat centre near Windield, Alberta. One brother was initiated. The retreat was organized by the Unit Secretary of the Edmonton unit, Divyajyoti. The program included nature walks, sauna, plus the usual collective meditation, yoga sessions, and introductory classes on Ananda Marga philosophy and practice.
Brother Samkalpa and I distributed 50 packets of food to homeless people in downtown Eastside Vancouver on Saturday, August 23. Each packet contains a peanut butter and jam sandwich, an energy bar, a chocolate wafer, drinking yoghurt in a strip, and an 8-oz bottle of water. There are hundreds of homeless people in Downtown East Vancouver. Almost all of them are victims of abuse of some kind. This distribution takes place twice on Saturdays per month.
