Prabhata Samgiita Day Celebration in Toronto, Canada 2017


Prabhata Samgiita Day was celebrated on Saturday September 16, 2017 from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Cyril Clark Theater, 20 Loafers Lake Lane, Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

The program was organized under the banner of RAWA (Renaissance of Artists and Writers Association) for celebrating the Prabhat Samgiit Divas. More than 30 various artist (including professionals & margiis artists) participated  and made the event successful. Artists presented dance, Prabhat Samgiit and performed instrumental music as part of the performances. There were also a few speeches about the importance of Prabhat Samgiit Divas, Ananda Marga and our beloved Baba – Shri Shri Anandmuti Ji.

Shrii P. R. Sarkar (also known as Shrii Shrii Anandamurti or Baba) composed the first Prabhata Samgiita song  “Bandhu he Niye Calo” September 14, 1982 in Deoghar and he continued composing more and more songs until October 20, 1990. Those 5018 songs are so beautiful and give lyrical and musical expression of the deepest spiritual feelings that we can experience in our meditation and daily life. Samgiita means combination of melody, rhythm, ideation, poetry, instrumental music and dance. This rich musical form was used by Baba to create the Prabhata Samgiita songs, full of aesthetic beauty, spiritual ideation and devotional feelings.

Beautiful songs and dance performances continued without brake for four hours. During the performance, delicious vegetarian dinner and homemade Indian sweets were served at the reception area of the theater. Many children and teenagers from different spiritual communities in Brampton and nearby areas performed the Prabhata Samgiita songs with tabla and harmonium accompaniment. Famous singer Rachna Mehra performed two Prabhata Samgiita. She is has achieved so many awards and recognitions at state & national level in both Tabla as well as Vocal in India and is currently teaching here in Greater Toronto.

Girls of different ages performed Bharatnatyam Indian classical dance to Prabhata Samgiita songs. The quality of the dance performances was very high with most of the dancers having trained classical dance since early childhood.

This program was the biggest public program organized by Ananda Marga Canada this year with participation of 150 people, mostly from Greater Toronto area but also from Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec and USA.

Acarya Parinirvanananda Avadhuta, Acarya Diiptimanananda Avadhuta, Acarya Dayashiilananda Avadhuta, Avadhutika Ananda Rupadhara Acarya, Avadhutika Ananda Acira Acarya were all present and with the help of the Canadian Ananda Margiis, sympathizers and community members helped to make this program a reality. All participants were awarded with certificates and praised for their volunteer participation.
