RAWA (Renaissance Artist Writers Association) program in Sterling, Virginia

RAWA Program at Nova Community College, Sterling, VA

RAWA cultural program was organized by Sandiip Khanuja, (RAWA Secretary) in Virginia on Sunday November 13, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m.  The program was very successful with participation of around fifty people.

Renaissance Artists and Writers Association (RAWA) was founded by Shrii Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar (Shrii Shrii Anandamurti) in India in 1958 in order to restore art and literature to its true role as an instrument for social and spiritual awakening. He envisioned a new artistic and literary renaissance where artists and writers would unite and inspire society to move forward in a progressive and spiritual direction. Acarya Iishvarakrsnananda Avadhuta is RU/RAWA Secretary for NY Sector and gave an inspiring introduction to RAWA and its role in today’s society.

Students from the Lavanya Ghantasala Music and Dance School in Virginia performed Indian Bharatanatyam dance. First was a group dance to the Prabhata Samgiita song by Shrii P. R. Sarkar “Jaya Shubha Vajra Dhara”. They also performed three other classical dances to songs of Lord Krsna and Lord Shiva.

We were fortunate to enjoy the talents of Gurtej Singh Aulakh, a professional tabla player that has performed in various concerts around the globe. Brother Madhusudhan sang a bhajan in Spanish language and one Prabhata Samgiita. Acarya Diiptimanananda Avadhuta sang three Prabhata Samgiita, brother Krs´n´átma performed two songs and Sandiip Khanuja sang one Prabhata Samgiita. Avadhutika Ananda Tapomaya Acarya gave introductions to the programs and Acarya Abhiramananda Avadhuta (Sectorial Secretary NY Sector) gave inspirational words. Many others helped in making this program successful and we give thanks to all the volunteers and well wishers.
