In Denver, Colorado, the Women’s Welfare Department (WWD) is developing a dedicated space where women can connect, learn, and grow. Led by Avadhútiká Ananda Kalyánmitrá Ácáryá, the initiative seeks to improve the Denver WWD Jagrti, making it more functional and welcoming.
A key part of this effort is constructing a guest bathroom and installing a proper division wall. Currently, the designated space for the bathroom is used for storage, laundry, and as a pantry. Meanwhile, only a curtain separates the community center from the private living quarters of the resident Didis, limiting both privacy and practicality. With these upgrades, guests will have a comfortable, dignified space, and the center will offer a clearer distinction between communal and residential areas.
Two months ago, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to support the renovations. The biggest challenge has been the lack of a separate bathroom, as the existing one is within the Didi quarters, making it inconvenient during programs and overnight stays. As of March 3, 2025, construction has begun, focusing first on the bathroom, the most complex and essential part of the project. Once completed, a division wall and door will be installed to further enhance the space.
This initiative embodies Ananda Marga’s commitment to social service, ensuring women have a space where they feel respected and empowered. Through dedicated efforts, the Denver WWD team is steadily transforming their community center into a more welcoming and functional place for all.
