On June 13, 2021, Ananda Marga in New York Sector formally inaugurated a new Master Unit in Stafford, Connecticut that the Purodha Promukha, Acarya Vishvadevananda Avadhuta, has given the name Ananda Kalpataru.
The new Master Unit is 101 acres of forest land and is the regional Master Unit for Boston Region. Stafford, Connecticut, is a small town about one and a half an hour drive from Boston and two and half an hour drive from Flushing, Queens. This town is pretty, and the houses are well maintained. Our land is forested with a small creek and pond and gently sloping down from the access road.
Acarya Abhiramananda Avadhuta, the Sectorial Secretary of the New York Sector, has been looking for suitable land and location for establishing a Master Unit for the last three years. Boston Region has a very high population and many Margiis in Boston, Connecticut, New Haven, and New York. Ananda Kalpataru Master Unit is at an ideal location in between Boston and New York and will serve Boston Region well.
Brother Timir, Sister Shephalii, and family, and other Margiis in Boston, have taken an active role in the purchase of this Master Unit. Ananda Marga purchased the land in March 2021. Acarya Kovid Brahmacarii, Acarya Abhiramananda Avadhuta, LFT brother Asiim, and other volunteers have been very active in the last two months to clear an access road and prepare for the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was on Sunday morning, June 13, 2021. Most of the Dadas in New York came the day before and camped at the property.
We started the day with a three-hour Akhanda Kiirtana, followed by the inauguration ceremony, group photo, and lunch. The neighbors were invited to join us for lunch. It was a happy day, and the neighbors were very friendly and enjoyed spending time with us. The entrance to the Master Unit is at a cul-de-sac in a nice single-family homes street.
