Our five-day meditation retreat at Ananda Kanan in Missouri (July 17 – 21) was a profoundly inspiring experience. Each day was filled with deep chanting, meditation, yoga, and philosophical classes, enriching our spiritual practice.
The group was very interested in the arts, so in addition to our spiritual practices, we engaged in various art activities. Brother Sudhiira gave painting workshops and Avtk. Ananda Acira Ac. gave a workshop on tie-dyeing T-shirts. Those were particularly enjoyable, highlighting the close relationship between art and spirituality. Art subtly touches our hearts and feelings, allowing us to create masterpieces that reflect our inner journey.
We also went to the Blue Spring River for a day in nature and enjoyed Kiirtana, meditation, and lunch by the river. The special events during the meditation retreat help to foster community feeling amongst the participants and allow them to know each other. They also always enjoy meditating in the natural environment.
Balancing our retreat, we also had fun playing pickleball, ensuring a harmonious mix of exercise, “innercise,” yoga, meditation, and art. We nourished our bodies with delicious sentient food and cherished the company of beautiful, like-minded individuals. The sharing of experiences and support from each other made the retreat even more special.
Though our group was small, the impact was powerful. The retreat at Ananda Kanan created inspiring memories and reinforced the bonds among us. It was a perfect blend of spiritual growth, creative expression, and joyful companionship. As we reflect on this enriching experience, we look forward to our next retreat, eager to once again connect with nature, deepen our practice, and create more beautiful memories together.
