On October 16, 2024, the Shri Asta Laksmi Temple in Sugarland, Houston, Texas, came alive with the spirit of devotion and artistic expression during a beautifully organized RAWA (Renaissance Artists and Writers Association) program. Initially planned for three hours, the program extended to four hours as participants and attendees were engrossed in the captivating performances.
The event featured 30 talented artists, including singers, dancers, and instrumentalists, who showcased their skills through Prabhat Samgiita (songs of dawn), devotional songs, and mesmerizing dance performances. Artists of all ages, from children to experienced musicians, contributed to the success of the program, creating a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere. The audience, numbering 150 attendees, included families and children who eagerly participated and made the event unforgettable.
This annual RAWA program has become a much-anticipated event in the community, thanks to the dedication of Mayanka Ji and his family, who worked tirelessly to organize it. Amit Ji and Jaya traveled from Dallas to assist, while Dr. Ram Shetigar and Madhusudan Ji and their families provided invaluable support in preparing the stage and hall. Both Dr. Ram and Madhusudan Ji, though retired, remain committed to RAWA’s mission, lending their time and energy year after year.
The mission of RAWA, as envisioned by its founder, Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, is to promote self-realization and societal service through the arts. Guided by the principle of “Art is for service and blessedness,” RAWA programs inspire individuals to explore the deeper purpose of art in uplifting humanity.
This RAWA program in Houston not only celebrated artistic excellence but also exemplified the transformative power of art as a medium for devotion, self-expression, and community building.
