Ananda Kanan has been undergoing a remarkable transformation over the past six months, bringing renewed energy, vision, and practical development to the Master Unit. With the arrival of Brother Tushya and his family, many meaningful improvements have begun to take shape, both in infrastructure and in the overall atmosphere of the property.
To support this development in a systematic way, Ac. Diiptimánánanda Avt., Ac. Parinirvanananda Avt., Brother Sudhiira, and Brother Tushya formed a regular working group to guide the ongoing development of Ananda Kanan. Through consistent meetings, the team reviews progress, sets priorities, develops budgets, and plans both immediate tasks and longer-term improvements, creating a much more coordinated workflow for the Master Unit.
A major focus has been preparing Ananda Kanan for the Summer Conference and improving the overall guest experience. Important safety work has already been completed in the children’s area behind the White House, including repairs to fencing and addressing an old collapsed silo, creating a safer environment for families and children attending programs.
Brother Tushya has also brought fresh inspiration to the land through gardening and sustainability projects. A new plant nursery has been established, with irises, daffodils, celosia, Jerusalem artichoke, fruit trees, and many annual seedlings now growing. This project may eventually become both a service to the local community and a modest income source through participation in the local farmers’ market, while also helping beautify the grounds.
Another important area of attention has been improving accommodations and strengthening Ananda Kanan’s financial sustainability. The cabins have received deep cleaning and cosmetic improvements, and internet access—previously a major obstacle for guests—has become a top priority. The team recognized that many modern travelers, especially remote workers, require reliable internet access, and that improving this infrastructure will significantly increase cabin rental potential. A dedicated Starlink system is now being installed to provide reliable high-speed internet access for the cabins, with further expansion planned in phases.
Ongoing maintenance work continues across the property. Recent efforts include gutter replacement, repairs to improve drainage, roofing maintenance, food storage reorganization, and broader infrastructure assessments to help preserve and strengthen the facilities. At the same time, planning has already begun for this year’s Summer Conference, including outreach, community participation, and online promotion.
With dedicated teamwork, practical planning, and renewed enthusiasm, Ananda Kanan is steadily developing into an even stronger spiritual and community resource for the future.
