A Weekend of Women’s Empowerment at Ananda Dhiira

From October 4-6, a transformative Women’s Retreat took place at Ananda Dhiira, where 15 women from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds gathered for a weekend of inspiration, reflection, and personal growth. The retreat, rooted in daily yoga, meditation, and enriching workshops, provided the perfect opportunity for women to connect with themselves and each other, free from judgment.

The weekend kicked off on Friday with warm welcomes, meditation, and kiirtan (a spiritual chant) that set the tone for deep reflection. As the evening unfolded, the ice was broken with light-hearted games, followed by a serene closing with Avarta kiirtan. The bonds of sisterhood began to form quickly, as the group embraced the journey ahead with open hearts.

Saturday brought an empowering blend of physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth. After early morning asanas and meditation, the women participated in workshops designed to help them reclaim their inner power. Didi A. Aparajiita’s Ac. session on “Stand Tall, Speak Strong: Building Confidence and Assertiveness” gave participants the tools to embrace their strength and face life’s challenges with confidence. A Krav Maga self-defense class followed, reminding the women of their physical power as well.

The afternoon was both relaxing and insightful. The group walked to the river for individual meditation and free time, allowing space for quiet contemplation. Then, in a delightful shift of pace, Didi Ananda Acira hosted a fun and educational “Fermentation Frenzy,” sparking laughter and curiosity as participants learned the magic of bacteria in food.

The theme of resilience was woven throughout the day. In her class on “Resilience – The Characteristic of Women,” Didi Ananda Radhika celebrated the strength and perseverance inherent in womanhood, reminding all in attendance that resilience is not only a trait but a force within each of us. As the day drew to a close with more meditation and reflection, the sense of unity deepened, and the evening programs offered a space for open discussions, questions, and even more bonding. The night closed with Avarta Kiirtan. Sunday morning came with a peaceful sense of closure. After a final yoga and meditation session, the women gathered for breakfast and heartfelt reflections. This retreat was about creating a safe space where women could share, feel supported, and inspire one another. It was a weekend that nourished both body and soul, leaving everyone uplifted, inspired, and ready to face the world with renewed strength and clarity.
