The Los Altos Hills Jagrti has long served as a key center for Margiis and Local Full-Time training. The Dharma Cakra hall, located at the back of the house, is cherished for its exceptionally serene and focused meditation atmosphere. It was originally prepared as Baba’s Room in anticipation of His visit to the United States; although His tour was later redirected to Jamaica, the room has continued to be maintained as a sacred space and remains so today.
Ananda Marga acquired the single-family residence at 27160 Moody Road in Los Altos Hills in 1971. Built in the mid-1960s, the house sits on a steeply sloping lot with little naturally flat ground beyond the parking area. Because of this terrain, the surrounding deck has always been an essential part of the property’s design, providing much-needed outdoor space for residents and guests and allowing programs and gatherings to expand beyond what the Dharma Cakra hall and indoor rooms can comfortably accommodate.
The old deck was dismantled two years ago, and reconstruction is ongoing. The project is currently managed by Ac. Diiptimánánanda Avadhúta, with on-site work and preparations carried out by Brother Turiiya, our long-time handyman and carpenter, who has served the Jagrti faithfully for many years. Ac. Diiptimánánanda Avadhúta taught Turiiya Ananda Marga meditation last year, and alongside his construction responsibilities, he now regularly attends Dharma Cakra and engages in ongoing philosophical discussions with Dada, further deepening his connection to the spiritual life of the center. We have a nice flow at the Jagrti with a collective lunch almost every day.
An architect and structural engineer have been engaged and are finalizing drawings for submission to Santa Clara County. Once permits are approved, specialized contractors will be hired to carry out the drilling and construction of the concrete foundations with reinforced rebar footings for the deck piers. Construction is hoped to begin in spring 2026. In the meantime, steady progress continues on other important upgrades, including replacing most second-floor windows with modern double-pane units, improving insulation, and cleaning and repainting the redwood plywood exterior panels. Step by step, the Los Altos Hills Jagrti is becoming warmer, more energy-efficient, and more welcoming—supporting its ongoing role as a place of sádhaná, community life, and service.

We have replaced seven windows, cleaned and stained the siding on the second floor, and added new insulation and housewrap under the siding plywood.
